Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Orano Limited you will work on a variety of specialist tasks, delivering and managing technical studies and projects. You will design mechanical processes from strategic concepts through detailed design, construction and commissioning support, primarily for nuclear‑related environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical studies and project management for mechanical handling and powder technologies.
• Produce technical notes, flow diagrams, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, layout drawings and hazard analyses.
• Design mechanical processes from concept to detailed design and support construction/commissioning.
• Review technical specifications and documentation from the supply chain.
• Collaborate with Orano experts and maintain relationships with other Orano sites and client locations, including travel as required.

Required profile

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in engineering design (FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review) within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
• Background in mechanical handling, powder processing, and related studies covering manufacture, testing, construction, operation, maintenance and de‑commissioning.
• Experience managing contractors in regulated environments and familiarity with projects at Sellafield, AWE, UKAEA, UKNNL or Magnox sites.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo security vetting.
