Mechanical Fitter – High Voltage Substations (UK)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a specialist high‑voltage infrastructure company delivering AIS and GIS substation projects up to 132kV across the UK. You will work on large‑scale installations, refurbishments and maintenance of critical power equipment while receiving specialist training and clear career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical installation, assembly, refurbishment and maintenance of AIS and GIS substation equipment up to 132kV.
• Install, service and maintain transformers, switchgear, disconnectors, support structures and associated plant.
• Work alongside commissioning engineers during energisation and testing activities.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and project specifications.
• Travel nationwide with regular overnight stays; accommodation and expenses are provided.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in substations, switchgear, heavy plant or power generation environments.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away from home during the working week.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Mechanical fitting of high‑voltage equipment.
• Installation of AIS and GIS substation components.
