Mechanical Fitter

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a thriving manufacturing operation in Leeds. The successful candidate will work hands‑on assembling a variety of mechanical equipment, ensuring every build meets the highest standards of quality and precision. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to production schedules in a fast‑moving workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical equipment and components according to engineering specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation to guide accurate assembly.
• Perform drilling, tapping and other preparation tasks on parts before assembly.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
• Complete builds and sub‑assemblies to required quality standards.
• Carry out in‑process inspections and final checks to ensure compliance with customer and company expectations.
• Identify and report any design, material or assembly issues that could affect quality or delivery.
• Maintain health, safety and housekeeping standards within the workshop.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical assembly, fitting or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Capability to manage workload independently while supporting a collaborative team.
• Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
