Mechanical Project Engineer – Facilities

About the role

The Mechanical Project Engineer will own and enhance all mechanical and HVAC systems across the campus, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with energy management standards. This position sits within the Facilities Programme Management team and leads both capital and cross‑functional projects.

Key responsibilities

• Technically own, monitor, and continuously improve mechanical/HVAC infrastructure and services on site.
• Specify, manage, and update mechanical designs for new and ongoing projects, maintaining AutoCAD 2D drawings and PDF versions.
• Ensure all projects meet ISO50001 Energy Management requirements and document compliance.
• Plan, orchestrate, and lead allocated capital projects, producing project plans, risk registers, and cost plans.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and stakeholder communications throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate with all departments to minimise disruption during installations and the annual two‑week shutdown.
• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation for all mechanical services and equipment.
• Prepare and present capital expenditure requests to senior management.
• Mentor graduates and interns within the Facilities Technical Projects Team.

Required profile

• Proven experience with mechanical/HVAC systems in a facilities or construction environment.
• Familiarity with ISO50001 energy management standards.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic setting and deliver tasks independently.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder updates and team coordination.
