Medical Emergency Team Physician – Acute Care

About the role

The Medical Emergency Team (MET) Physician provides rapid, expert care to in‑patients who become critically ill or injured. Working within Surrey Memorial Hospital, you will join a high‑volume acute care environment that supports teaching, research, and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Code Team Leader and Most Responsible Physician (MRP) during Code Blue events for admitted patients and calls outside the Emergency Department.
• Respond promptly to all inpatient medical emergencies, including acute stroke and contrast reactions.
• Perform advanced critical‑care procedures such as airway management, central catheter placement, drainage catheter insertions, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Provide clinical support to the Intensive Care Unit under the supervision of the on‑call Intensivist.
• Participate in teaching and training programs for medical staff, residents, and fellows.
• Collaborate on evidence‑based protocols, quality‑improvement initiatives, and research projects.

Required profile

• Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) or US‑certified class of registration.
