Mental Health Assistant – Support Students with SEMH Needs

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Oxford. You will work directly with young people who experience anxiety, trauma‑related needs, behavioural challenges and other barriers to learning, helping them develop resilience and succeed academically.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group emotional support to students.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies and resilience.
- Promote positive behaviour and use de‑escalation techniques.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils both in and out of the classroom.
- Support students with SEMH needs throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Passion for supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Willingness to work in a fast‑paced, specialist SEMH environment.
- Ability to start ASAP or in September.
