Mental Health Support Assistant (Psychology Graduate)

About the role
This full‑time position is based in a specialist school in Headington, Oxford, supporting vulnerable students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and co‑existing mental health, communication and learning needs. It is ideal for recent psychology graduates seeking hands‑on experience in a therapeutic and educational setting.
Key responsibilities
- Work one‑to‑one and in small groups to help students access learning and develop life skills.
- Deliver personalised interventions aimed at emotional regulation, confidence building and social development.
- Create a fun, engaging classroom environment that encourages independence.
- Monitor progress, celebrate achievements and adjust intervention plans as needed.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with a degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Compassionate, resilient and motivated to support young people with complex needs.
- Willingness to start immediately or in September 2026.
Required skills
- Understanding of autism and associated mental health challenges.
- Basic knowledge of therapeutic and behavioural support techniques.
