Method Development Chemist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Method Development Chemist to join our analytical team in Essex. The role involves creating, optimising and validating analytical methods that support research, product development and manufacturing across a global materials-science business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and validate analytical methods for polymers and related materials.
• Provide robust analytical solutions to innovation, technical and application teams.
• Ensure methods comply with quality and validation standards, including ISO 17025.
• Train laboratory staff on new methodologies and best practices.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to harmonise analytical approaches.
• Communicate technical findings and project updates to key stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of laboratory processes and methodologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Industrial experience in analytical method development and validation.
• Hands‑on experience with GC‑MS, LC‑MS, HPLC and GC instruments.
• Strong problem‑solving and data‑interpretation abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
