Mixed Tax Manager / Senior Manager

About the role

This position sits within the Business Advisory team of a tech‑enabled professional services firm operating across Scotland. You will lead both corporate and personal tax work, delivering compliance and advisory services while managing a team and supporting business development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage annual tax return compliance for companies, individuals and partnerships.
• Provide tax planning services such as remuneration planning, corporate tax strategy, succession planning, capital gains tax advice and benefits‑in‑kind.
• Collaborate with other teams to incorporate VAT, international taxes, LBTT and stamp duties into client advice.
• Oversee delivery of work for the Business Advisory and Private Client teams, supporting a portfolio of roughly 1,800 clients.
• Lead onboarding and proposal processes for new clients.
• Mentor junior staff, ensuring quality standards and professional progression.
• Create technical content (blogs, presentations) in your area of expertise.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve client service across all touchpoints.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CA, ATT, CTA).
• Strong experience in both corporate and personal tax compliance and advisory.
• Previous team‑management experience within a professional services or accountancy firm.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple client demands.
• Experience handling a client portfolio and maintaining strong relationships.
• Confidence using tax software such as Alphatax and CCH.
• Proactive, clear communicator with a commercial mindset.
