Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Flaxby Produce, part of Myton Food Group, is recruiting a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its manufacturing site in Knaresborough. The role reports to the Site Engineering Manager and covers the maintenance, repair and improvement of machinery and equipment to keep production running smoothly. The post is permanent, 40 hours per week, on a 3-week rota including days (6am-2pm) and lates (2pm-12am) and 1 in 3 weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on production equipment, spotting and fixing issues before they cause disruption
• Respond to machinery breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out repairs or coordinate with external specialists
• Carry out machine adjustments and changeovers to support production line efficiency
• Monitor and calibrate equipment to meet accuracy, quality and safety standards
• Work with production teams on process improvements and give technical advice
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, schedules, repairs and spare parts inventory
• Follow health and safety guidelines and stay up to date with industry advances

Required profile

• NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, e.g. ONC or BTEC level 3 in mechanical and electrical engineering)
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in the FMCG industry
• Good understanding of HACCP principles; IEE wiring regulations up to 18th edition is an advantage
• Ability to work at pace, assertive decision-making and a can-do attitude

Required skills

• Troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery such as conveyors, motors, pumps and packaging equipment
• Mechanical and electrical systems knowledge
