NEC Clerk of Works – Construction Quality Monitoring

About the role

Mace is seeking a qualified professional to deliver NEC Clerk of Works and Construction Quality Monitoring services across its regional offices. The role supports education and justice sector projects, providing site quality oversight, condition surveys, and small‑scale project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor construction works on site to ensure compliance with contract terms, good practice and manufacturers' recommendations.
• Manage specialist consultants such as M&E engineers, fire consultants and façade engineers where required.
• Conduct condition surveys using tablet capture software and produce clear reports.
• Assist the building surveying team with traditional services including Part Wall and defect diagnosis.
• Prepare design and tender documentation for small to medium maintenance projects.

Required profile

• Chartered Building Surveyor, Project Manager or Architect (essential).
• Strong grounding in building technology, including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
• Experience working with JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Willingness to obtain DBS and basic security clearances.
