New Product Development Process Technologist (18-Month Contract)

About the role

Albert Bartlett is recruiting an enthusiastic and driven NPD Process Development Technologist for its growing New Product Development team in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Reporting to the NPD Manager on an 18-month fixed-term contract, the role supports the development of innovative food products from kitchen handover through to successful factory launch, working closely with Operations, Technical, Procurement and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in product handover meetings for approved launch projects.
• Plan, coordinate and support factory trials with operational teams, ensuring ingredients, packaging, equipment and processes are ready.
• Write detailed trial reports and manage follow-up actions through to launch.
• Collect and analyse process measurements during trials and pre-productions.
• Support customer visits, trials, pre-productions and launches, liaising with suppliers on materials and timelines.
• Maintain factory documentation such as batching sheets and line standards.
• Coordinate product testing including nutritional analysis, shelf-life, organoleptic tests and external cooking validations, and prepare samples for lab analysis.
• Create and approve Customer Quality Attribute Standards (QAS).
• Run transit trials and other customer-specific validations, and keep trial trackers and project documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a New Product Development environment.
• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline, or HND equivalent.
• Experience with UK retail customer development processes and project management systems.
• Food Hygiene Level 2, HACCP Level 2 and Food Labelling Regulations training.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail, communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Understanding of food manufacturing processes
