QA Operator - Chilled Night Shift (Sun-Thu)

About the role

A Quality Assurance (QA) Operator is needed for the Chilled division in Airdrie, working the night shift from 10pm to 6.30am on Sunday to Thursday. Reporting to the QA Team Leader, the role ensures products are made to the correct quality, safety and customer specifications, working with Production, Hygiene and Technical teams to uphold food safety, HACCP and audit compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out quality checks throughout production and monitor product quality, weight, labelling, packaging and presentation.
• Conduct routine inspections, record findings in company systems, and support right-first-time manufacturing.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality and hygiene standards, and report quality, food safety, legality or compliance issues to the relevant manager.
• Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and quality control checks in line with HACCP requirements.
• Assist with product holds, investigations, non-conformances and corrective actions, and support internal audits, customer visits and third-party inspections.
• Maintain accurate records for due diligence and traceability, and promote GMP and housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Good understanding of food safety and quality standards, and knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety systems.
• Experience of customer standards and audit requirements (BRCGS, retailer standards).
• Attention to detail, good communication with production teams, and accurate paperwork and record keeping.
• Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns.
• Previous QA, QC or Technical experience in chilled food manufacturing is preferred.

Required skills

• Basic IT skills and experience using quality management systems.
• HACCP and GMP knowledge.
