Night Support Worker – Children’s Homes

About the role

Join a residential children’s home team providing overnight care and support to young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work a 4‑on/4‑off night rota, ensuring safety, comfort and continuity of care throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overnight support to residents, responding promptly to trauma, illness, distress or emergencies.
• Maintain a safe, secure environment and uphold safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Complete administrative duties such as paperwork, cleaning and laundry during quieter periods.
• Build trusting relationships with young people to offer emotional reassurance and guidance.

Required profile

• Willingness to work night shifts on a 4‑on/4‑off schedule.
• Calm, empathetic approach when dealing with trauma or mental‑health challenges.
• Reliability and good attendance record.
• Commitment to a 4‑week induction and ongoing training.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child‑protection procedures.
• Experience or strong interest in supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
