Night Veterinary Surgeon

About the role

Join the night service at Animal Trust’s Barnsley Hospital, delivering emergency and critical care (ECC) for dogs and cats out of hours. You will work alongside a supportive day team, using state‑of‑the‑art consulting rooms, theatres, X‑ray and dental suites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide urgent surgical, medical and orthopaedic care to a diverse caseload during night shifts.
• Collaborate with day‑time first‑opinion and referral teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.
• Utilise nurse‑led care protocols to monitor stable patients in overnight kennels.
• Maintain high standards of infection control and documentation in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• ECC (Emergency and Critical Care) expertise.
• Proficiency in X‑ray imaging and dental procedures.
• Experience with orthopaedic surgery and general surgical case management.
