Nursery Deputy Manager (Assistant Manager)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Nursery Deputy Manager to support the Nursery Manager in delivering a high‑quality early years setting in Godalming. This full‑time, onsite role offers the chance to develop your leadership skills while ensuring a safe, stimulating environment for children.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Nursery Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the setting.
• Maintain a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for all children.
• Lead by example in delivering high‑quality teaching and learning experiences.
• Plan and implement engaging activities that support children’s development across all areas.
• Observe, assess, and track children’s progress, ensuring accurate records.
• Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and external professionals.
• Ensure compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health & safety, and Ofsted standards.
• Support staff supervision, mentoring, and team development.
• Step in to lead the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

Required profile

• Cache Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education (minimum).
• Proven experience as a Senior Practitioner, Room Leader, or Deputy Manager.
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Understanding of Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and compliance.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic approach.
