NVH Engineer – Marine Stealth Systems (Barrow in Furness)

About the role

Join an established defence engineering firm working on cutting‑edge marine systems. As an NVH Engineer you will support the Stealth Engineering Test team, creating test procedures, analysing acoustic and vibration data, and ensuring vessel machinery meets strict stealth requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structure‑borne, airborne and fluid‑borne noise and vibration measurements throughout the product lifecycle, from prototype to in‑service support.
• Develop and maintain test rigs and acquisition setups for stealth performance verification.
• Interpret acoustic, electromagnetic and non‑acoustic data to guide design decisions.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide relevant NVH data.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to equipment condition‑based monitoring (ISO 18436).

Required profile

• STEM background with proven experience in noise and vibration engineering.
• Eligibility for SC security clearance (British nationality, 5+ years UK residence).
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical findings to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with acquisition software such as Siemens LMS, HBK Connect, Bruel & Kjaer Connect, Pulse or Labshop.
• Detailed knowledge of noise and vibration measurement techniques and data analysis.
• Familiarity with equipment condition‑based monitoring standards (ISO 18436).
