Occupational Therapy Assistant – Learning Disability & Mental Health

About the role
We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Cygnet Hospital Colchester. You will support individuals with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs, helping them achieve greater independence and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver therapeutic activities tailored to each service user’s needs, choices and interests.
- Work under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist and collaborate with the wider MDT.
- Assist in assessments, goal setting and progress monitoring.
- Contribute to a safe, recovery‑focused environment that promotes rehabilitation and community reintegration.
Required profile
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Therapy Assistance.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week in a full‑time, onsite role.
- Commitment to the values of person‑centred care and least restrictive practice.
Required skills
- Planning and implementing therapeutic activities.
- Effective teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting.
- Understanding of learning disabilities, autism and mental health contexts.
