ODD Senior Associate – Operational Due Diligence

About the role

As an ODD Senior Associate you will join the Operations team at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and take immediate responsibility for operational due‑diligence activities across a broad range of external investments and service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational due‑diligence reviews of prospective and existing externally managed investments (public and private) and service providers, including on‑site visits and manager interviews.
• Conduct AML/KYC checks on private‑markets transactions and execute broker due‑diligence reviews.
• Prepare detailed operational due‑diligence reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist with team planning, pipeline management, meeting scheduling and preparation of management information.
• Build strong relationships with USS colleagues, deal teams, legal and compliance functions.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of operational risk, controls and emerging issues in alternative investments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the due‑diligence process.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar operational‑risk or due‑diligence role.
• Ability to assess, mitigate and communicate operational risks.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Willingness to collaborate across multiple internal teams.
