On-Site Plumber – Permanent Role

About the role

We are looking for a permanent on‑site plumber to join Amey’s Ministry of Justice contract at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham. The role involves delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the prison’s water and heating systems, ensuring safety, compliance and continuity of service.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out statutory and routine plumbing works, including fault finding, repairs and replacement of life‑expired equipment.
• Inspect, sample and assess water systems, maintaining system integrity and complying with Legionella regulations.
• Repair mains water supplies and support BMS (Building Management System) monitoring for optimal performance.
• Work at height and in varied weather conditions, adhering to health & safety standards and prison security procedures.
• Contribute to zero‑carbon initiatives and sustainability goals.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification – Level 3 (NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating preferred, NVQ Level 2 acceptable).
• Experience operating light plant and performing commercial plumbing maintenance.
• Ability to obtain Prison Security Clearance (support provided).
• Desirable: Legionella Control (L8) certification.
