One‑Week STEM Work Experience Programme for Students

About the role

Robert Bird Group, part of the SJ Group, is offering a one‑week STEM work experience programme for Year 10‑13 students. The placement runs during the summer of 2026 at the London Southwark office and provides a real‑world glimpse into engineering and design careers that shape the built environment.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside a dedicated supervisor to develop basic professional skills.
• Observe and assist experienced engineers and designers on daily tasks.
• Shadow team members across multiple disciplines.
• Complete a short technical design task that encourages creativity.
• Receive mentorship from two assigned team members throughout the week.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in Year 10, 11, 12 or 13.
• Strong interest in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• Enthusiastic, eager to learn and able to work in a team.
• No prior experience required.
