Operational Quality Engineer – Frontline Support

About the role

We are looking for an Operational Quality Engineer to join the Quality Control team at Smith+Nephew. You will act as the frontline quality partner for the manufacturing value stream, ensuring high standards of compliance and product release.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational quality support to the value‑stream and deputise for the Value Stream Quality Engineer.
• Review and release intermediate and finished product documentation, including generation of COA/COC.
• Archive quality documentation according to site procedures.
• Conduct raw‑material incoming inspection and sampling.
• Lead containment, investigation and disposition of non‑conforming materials, managing NCs and CAPA.
• Support change‑control activities and communicate procedural updates.
• Assess quality issues, determine escalation level and act as SME during audits.
• Coordinate raw‑material concessions and shelf‑life extension requests.

Required profile

• Degree level education (minimum 2:2 honours) or at least three years of quality experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities.
• Proven root‑cause investigation and problem‑solving skills.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards.
