Operations Manager – Airports

About the role

Air Canada is seeking an Operations Manager for its airport network. In this senior leadership position you will oversee day‑of operations across multiple functional areas, ensuring safety, efficiency and a positive passenger experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily airport operations including check‑in counters, gates, baggage handling, ramp, and the Station Operations Control (STOC) centre.
• Coordinate with external agencies such as CATSA, USCBP, CBSA, Transport Canada and airport vendors to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
• Enforce safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures, conduct investigations after incidents and perform regular safety audits.
• Represent the Air Canada brand, delivering hospitality standards and promoting a “safety first, always” culture.
• Supervise and develop a unionized workforce (IAMAW & UNIFOR), fostering accountability and ownership.
• Provide regular feedback, coach team members, and manage performance through counseling or disciplinary actions.
• Collaborate with other operational managers to resolve performance issues and implement corrective measures.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in airport or airline operations.
• Experience working with unionized teams and knowledge of collective agreements.
• Strong understanding of aviation safety standards, SOPs and incident investigation processes.
• Ability to build effective relationships with regulatory agencies and airport partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate staff and represent the brand.
