Optical Manager

About the role
As an Optical Manager at Asda in Taunton, you will lead a busy optical department, ensuring high‑quality patient care and a smooth retail operation. You will work closely with optometrists and support staff to deliver a fixed‑price, no‑up‑sell service that prioritises customer wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a team of optometrists and optical assistants, providing coaching and development.
- Oversee compliance processes, clinical standards and statutory CPD requirements.
- Monitor sales forecasts, department targets and handle customer queries.
- Control shop‑floor operations, stock levels and equipment to meet patient needs.
- Collaborate with Area Managers and Home Office teams for clinical support and performance feedback.
Required profile
- Fully qualified dispensing optician registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
- On track to meet statutory CPD points requirements.
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proven leadership experience within an optical or retail setting.
Required skills
- Dispensing optics knowledge.
- GOC registration compliance.
