About the role
Infleqtion is seeking an Opto Mechanical Engineer to join its quantum computing team. Working across the Kidlington, Oxford office and the National Quantum Computing Centre in Harwell, you will help translate experimental concepts into engineered optomechanical solutions for next‑generation quantum computers.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicists and optical, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to define system requirements.
- Design, assemble, and test beam‑delivery and optomechanical subsystems, from individual components to large assemblies with hundreds of precisely aligned optics.
- Use simulation tools such as SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS Zeemax to guide design decisions and document findings.
- Create CAD models, detailed drawings, and documentation packages following company standards.
- Develop manufacturing processes that ensure repeatable assembly and alignment.
- Characterise optomechanical components for performance, reliability, and stability through structured test plans.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in optomechanical or optical system design.
Required skills
- SolidWorks (CAD modelling and simulation).
- ANSYS Zeemax.
- Optical and mechanical simulation tools.
- Free‑space and fibre optical system design.
