About the role

Join a well‑established, family‑run independent opticians practice in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The role offers clinical freedom, longer 30‑minute sight tests and a patient‑focused environment where you can deliver high‑quality eye care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct 30‑minute sight tests with full support from the optical team.
• Perform pre‑screening to allow full clinical focus.
• Utilise OCT and advanced retinal imaging for diagnostics.
• Run contact lens clinics and provide ongoing care.
• Participate in a direct cataract referral scheme.
• Collaborate closely with dispensing opticians and support staff.
• Work six days a week, often alongside another optometrist.

Required profile

• GOC‑registered Optometrist.
• All experience levels considered.
• Ability to work independently when required.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Patient‑focused approach.

Required skills

• OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography).
• Advanced retinal imaging.
• Contact lens fitting and management.

What we offer

• Full‑time or part‑time options (5 days/week full‑time, alternate Saturdays).
• Salary £50,000‑£60,000 per year, dependent on experience.
• Professional fees paid and annual CET event.
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
