Optometrist – Full‑time position in Portsmouth

About the role

Vision Express is looking for a qualified optometrist to join its Portsmouth store. You will work in a fully equipped test room with OCT and an Auto Phoropter, delivering high‑quality eye examinations and supporting the team in a busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using OCT and Auto Phoropter equipment.
• Provide clear diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatments or corrective lenses.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with GOC standards.
• Contribute to the commercial performance of the store by promoting products and services.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Required profile

• Qualified and GOC‑registered optometrist.
• Strong clinical expertise with the ability to build patient confidence.
• Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to share ideas.
• Commercial awareness and focus on store performance.
• Interest in flexible working arrangements.

Required skills

• Proficient operation of OCT imaging equipment.
• Skilled use of an Auto Phoropter for refraction.

What we offer

• Salary up to £79,000 per year (subject to experience) plus a £4,000 car allowance.
