About the role

The Orthopaedic Trauma Department at John Radcliffe Hospital is seeking an experienced Orthopaedic Trauma Consultant to join a dedicated team serving a 3‑million‑person catchment area. The role involves delivering high‑quality trauma surgery within a major trauma centre and contributing to teaching and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex orthopaedic trauma procedures, including pelvic and acetabular fracture surgery.
• Participate in the on‑call rota and provide emergency surgical care across the Trust.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage musculoskeletal trauma patients.
• Contribute to clinical teaching for medical students and junior doctors.
• Engage in research and clinical trials within the Orthopaedic Trauma unit.

Required profile

• Fully trained orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship‑level experience in major trauma surgery.
• Proven track record of delivering orthopaedic trauma care in a major trauma centre.
• Team‑player with strong communication skills and commitment to teaching.
