Paralegal – Business and Legal Affairs (London)

About the role

A major UK broadcaster is looking for a Paralegal to join its Business and Legal Affairs (BALA) team in London. The role supports the commissioning and relicensing of a wide range of content across linear, VOD and FAST services, working closely with internal stakeholders and external production partners.

Key responsibilities

• Review standard and non‑standard production agreements and licences to confirm rights availability.
• Assist in drafting and negotiating legal agreements under supervision.
• Manage workflows, databases and rights/project/content management systems, including accurate recording of rights in the What’s On (WON) system.
• Liaise regularly with BALA colleagues and wider business, providing updates and participating in meetings.
• Conclude inter‑company agreements using approved templates.
• Provide general legal and administrative support for senior BALA members, including rights audits and research.
• Contribute to team initiatives, improving contract templates and processes.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education or higher.
• Relevant legal training or experience, preferably in‑house or private practice.
• Familiarity with media, entertainment or intellectual property law is advantageous.
• Strong drafting ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective time‑management and ability to prioritise workloads.
• Positive, constructive attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the What’s On rights‑management system.
