About the role
Dalhousie University is seeking a part‑time academic to teach ASSC 1800.03 Computing and Society in History during the Fall 2026 term. The course meets in‑person on Mondays from 14:35‑16:25 and explores the historical interplay between computing technologies and society.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver weekly lectures and lead tutorials, including covering for absent teaching assistants.
- Design, grade, and provide feedback on assignments, exams, and other student work.
- Train, supervise, and coordinate teaching assistants, ensuring consistent assessment standards.
- Maintain a two‑hour weekly office‑hour schedule for student consultations.
- Report to the Associate Dean, Academic of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Required profile
- PhD (or ABD) in a humanities or social‑science discipline.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching large first‑year university courses.
- Experience teaching arts or social‑science subjects to students from multiple faculties is an asset.
- Ability to specify the course section(s) applied for.
- Provide a CV, two references, and optionally a cover letter and teaching‑effectiveness evidence.
