Part-Time Academic – Indigenizing & Decolonizing Social Work (Online)

About the role

The Department of Social Work at Dalhousie University seeks a part‑time academic to teach the online course SLWK 3109 “Indigenizing & Decolonizing Social Work” during the Winter 2027 term. The instructor will guide BSW students through Indigenous perspectives, historical and contemporary contexts, and critical reflection on practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver weekly online lectures using the Brightspace learning platform.
• Design, grade, and provide feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Offer virtual consultation and support to students throughout the term.
• Complete course preparation work one to two months prior to delivery.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of Canada’s Indigenous histories, contemporary experiences, and their implications for social work practice.
• Master of Social Work (MSW) or higher.
• Prior teaching experience, preferably in an online environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Brightspace learning management system.
