Part-Time Health & Safety Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Part-Time Health & Safety Coordinator to support our manufacturing and engineering business in Alton. The role offers flexible working (1-2 days per week) while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and fostering a positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and internal policies.
• Carry out workplace inspections, audits and hazard identification.
• Assist in preparing risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses and support corrective actions.
• Maintain health and safety documentation, records and training matrices.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and employee awareness initiatives.
• Provide advice on best practice to managers and staff.
• Support emergency preparedness, fire safety and first-aid arrangements.
• Assist with external audits and inspections.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of health and safety processes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a health & safety role.
• Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH (desirable).

Required skills

• Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 management systems (desirable).
