Partner Designate – Future Equity Partner (Legal)

About the role

This is a unique succession opportunity for a senior solicitor to join a well‑established SRA‑regulated law firm in Stevenage as a Partner Designate. The role starts on a salaried basis and leads to full equity partnership when the current equity partner retires in April 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the retiring equity partner during a structured hand‑over to assume operational control and strategic direction.
• Manage and develop a high‑quality caseload across residential conveyancing, litigation, private client, employment and family law.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, risk management and SRA Accounts Rules, including COFA responsibilities.
• Mentor and supervise fee earners and support staff, ensuring high operational standards.
• Lead business development, networking and referrer management to drive financial growth.
• Contribute to budgeting, financial planning and performance metrics in preparation for equity ownership.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with extensive post‑qualification experience (PQE).
• Current or former partner, legal director or senior associate with proven team‑management experience.
• Deep knowledge of SRA standards, compliance and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse legal practice and client relationships.
