Part‑Time Family Law Solicitor (3 days/week)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time family law solicitor to join an established team in Colchester. The position is ideally three full days per week, with flexibility to accommodate alternative schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist legal advice and representation to clients on family law matters.
• Manage a personal caseload from initial client interview through to final resolution.
• Draft and file court documents including divorce petitions, financial orders, child‑arrangement agreements, prenup and cohabitation agreements, and injunctions.
• Negotiate settlements and liaise with opposing parties and the courts.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with UK family law procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or experienced paralegal with a focus on family law.
• Ability to handle a realistic and manageable workload on a part‑time basis.
• Strong client communication and independent working skills.
• Flexibility to adapt working days as needed.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK family law, including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, and injunctions.
• Proficiency in legal drafting and case management.
• Effective negotiation and client interviewing abilities.
