Part‑time GCSE English & Maths SEN Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a part‑time tutor to deliver one‑to‑one GCSE English and Maths tuition to secondary‑aged learners in Stockport. The role focuses on pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and runs during school hours (9 am‑3 pm) from September 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engaging, personalised GCSE English and Maths lessons.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet a range of SEND needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety and dyslexia.
• Plan and deliver sessions that align with GCSE outcomes.
• Build supportive relationships that boost confidence and academic progress.
• Assess learning needs, monitor progress and give constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and company policies.

Required profile

• At least 6 months of UK teaching or tuition experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Proven ability to teach English and Maths at GCSE level.
• Strong understanding of differentiated and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK; access to a vehicle is desirable.
