About the role

Join Asda Opticians in Gateshead as a part‑time Optometrist delivering high‑quality eye care. You will conduct eye examinations, provide contact lens services and support extended NHS services while working within a supportive retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations for customers.
• Carry out contact lens assessments and fittings.
• Deliver NHS extended service examinations and monitor eye conditions.
• Support the Dispensing Optician Manager with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards.
• Participate in continuous professional development and obtain additional accreditations as required.
• Optionally supervise GOC‑registered students to develop future optical professionals.

Required profile

• GOC‑registered Optometrist with a commitment to patient‑centred care.
• Willingness to work a rotating schedule (weekday and Saturday shifts).
• Enthusiastic about ongoing training and professional development.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
