Pastoral Officer – September Start

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a proactive Pastoral Officer to join an inspirational Alternative Provision in Hartlepool. The role begins in September 2026 and focuses on supporting pupils aged 11‑18 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them build confidence, improve attendance and achieve academic progress.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operational leadership of the pastoral system across the academy.
• Raise pupils' aspirations, self‑esteem and attendance through targeted interventions.
• Develop and coordinate enrichment activities that support emotional and academic development.
• Liaise with staff, parents, external education institutions and multi‑agency partners to monitor and promote student progress.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have SEMH challenges and challenging behaviour.
• Background in a PRU or Alternative Provision setting.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.

• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to apply).
• Provision of two recent professional references.
