Payroll Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Advisor to join our respected team in Manchester. In this client‑facing position you will provide clear, legally compliant payroll advice and help clients navigate complex payroll regulations. The role combines technical expertise with relationship building to ensure clients remain compliant and confident.

Key responsibilities

• Provide detailed advice on payroll policies, procedures and UK legislation to ensure client compliance.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in payroll law and industry best practices.
• Log all advice in the internal system and manage cases from initiation to resolution.
• Prepare and deliver supporting documentation tailored to each client’s needs.
• Present internal training sessions and external webinars to share payroll knowledge.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the advisory process.
• Assist clients with payroll audits, reviews and compliance checks.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver seamless service.
• Contribute ideas for process improvement and service quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation and tax regulations.
• Previous experience delivering or managing payroll services, preferably in a bureau environment.
• CIPP qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Familiarity with various payroll systems.
