Payroll Assistant

About the role

HSL Compliance, a UK compliance specialist, is hiring an on-site Payroll Assistant in Ross-on-Wye. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, you will own end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls, working closely with HR and Finance while acting as a confidential point of contact for employees.

Key responsibilities

• Run weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time
• Maintain payroll databases, statutory records and employee leave planning systems
• Process back pay, termination pay, overtime and annual leave accruals/provisions
• Support the Payroll Manager with month-end reconciliations and prepare General Ledger journals
• Generate internal and statutory reports on sickness, leave and overtime
• Act as the first point of contact for staff and manager payroll and tax queries
• Partner with HR and Finance to ensure accurate data flow and resolve queries

Required profile

• End-to-end payroll processing experience is highly advantageous
• Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity of data
• Exceptional organisation and high numerical accuracy
• Responsive, approachable and eager to help colleagues

Required skills

• Sage 50 Payroll (hands-on experience)
• Microsoft Excel (formulas, data manipulation and reporting)
• Desirable: month-end accounting support and payroll ledger reconciliations
