Payroll / Finance Team Leader

About the role

As Finance Team Lead you will manage and motivate the finance transactions team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of sales, purchase and rent ledgers as well as other financial data. You will also oversee the finance function in line with established controls, standing orders and the scheme of delegation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain procedures, practices and controls to guarantee completeness, accuracy and integrity of accounting records, including authorisation of transactions and timely invoicing.
• Review and improve current financial and control processes, documenting changes and providing training where required.
• Prepare and run Two Saints' payroll each month, manage pension liabilities and submit required information to HMRC and the Pensions Trust.
• Lead the annual audit and internal audits, liaising with auditors and producing working papers.
• Line‑manage finance assistants and the payroll & finance officer, conducting supervisions, appraisals and welfare support.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, reconciling balance‑sheet accounts and extracting timely reports.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
• Proven line‑management experience.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team during periods of change.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard accounting software packages.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
