Payroll Officer – Winchester

About the role

Venture Recruitment Partners is recruiting a Payroll Officer to join a growing business in Winchester. The role combines HR administration, UK payroll, employee benefits and finance support, making it ideal for an experienced HR/payroll professional who enjoys working across multiple areas and delivering accurate, confidential, high‑quality support.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for employee payroll, pay and benefits queries.
• Run the monthly payroll process using Sage Payroll, including data checks, statutory submissions, payments and employee communications.
• Maintain PAYE records and complete year‑end payroll reporting.
• Administer pension auto‑enrolment, pension schedules and payroll/finance reconciliations.
• Manage salary sacrifice arrangements, benefit‑in‑kind adjustments, repayments, absence deductions and statutory payments.
• Maintain benefits information and ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate onboarding and off‑boarding, including right‑to‑work checks and system updates.
• Support absence management, working pattern changes and employee review processes.

Required profile

• Previous experience running or coordinating UK payroll, including PAYE, statutory payments and year‑end processes.
• Experience administering pensions, employee benefits and salary‑sacrifice schemes.
• HR administration experience across the employee lifecycle.
• Proficiency with payroll software, preferably Sage Payroll.
• Ability to handle confidential employee information and meet strict deadlines.
