People Advisor – 9‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated People Advisor to join a charitable organisation on a nine‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will provide practical HR advice and support to managers and staff, contributing to a positive employee and volunteer experience.
Key responsibilities
- Provide timely HR advice on sickness absence, performance, conduct, probation and flexible working.
- Manage and resolve employee‑relations cases from initial advice through to resolution.
- Identify and escalate complex or high‑risk issues in partnership with senior HR colleagues.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records and draft meeting invitations, outcome letters, notes and action plans.
- Assist People Business Partners with case planning, meeting preparation, follow‑up and progress tracking.
- Support HR projects by maintaining plans, trackers and communications to meet deadlines.
- Provide flexible HR administrative support during periods of increased demand or organisational change.
- Keep HR systems and people data up‑to‑date and support routine reporting, analysis and management information needs.
- Guide managers in applying HR policies and processes confidently.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a joined‑up employee and volunteer experience.
Required profile
- Practical experience in HR advisory, employee relations or generalist HR roles.
- Relevant CIPD qualification (Level 3 or 5) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Good understanding of UK employment law and employee‑relations best practices.
- Experience handling routine matters such as absence, probation and performance issues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload under time constraints.
- Experience supporting HR projects, organisational change or communications initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships.
