People Manager – Maternity Cover

About the role

Tangerine is seeking an experienced People & Performance Manager to cover a 12‑month maternity leave. The role can be full‑time or part‑time and offers a hands‑on, high‑impact opportunity to keep the People function running smoothly with clarity, pace and care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for the People & Performance function, ensuring continuity and effective decision‑making throughout the cover period.
• Lead delivery of the People & Performance roadmap, turning strategic priorities into measurable outcomes.
• Act as a trusted partner to leaders and managers, offering expert guidance on employee relations and organisational challenges.
• Oversee complex employee‑relations matters, managing risk and aligning outcomes with employment law and company values.
• Maintain People governance, policies and compliance activities, keeping frameworks effective and legally compliant.
• Ensure smooth operation of People systems, reporting and data management, using insights to support business decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a People or HR managerial role, preferably within a fast‑moving agency environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee‑relations best practices.
• Ability to translate strategic HR priorities into practical, day‑to‑day actions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Self‑starter attitude with the capacity to work independently and maintain momentum.
