Personal Lines Underwriter – Household & Travel

About the role

This role offers an exciting chance to join a fast‑growing Managing General Agent (MGA) as a Personal Lines Underwriter focused on household and travel insurance. You will work within a collaborative underwriting team, handling non‑standard property risks and specialist travel cases while developing your technical expertise across multiple product lines.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite a portfolio of non‑standard household and specialist home insurance risks.
• Assess new business and renewal submissions, evaluating construction type, occupancy, location, claims history and security features.
• Make underwriting decisions in line with authority limits, appetite and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to negotiate terms, manage referrals and provide technical support.
• Support the Travel Underwriting team with referrals, risk assessments and broader underwriting activities.
• Participate in portfolio reviews, strategy discussions and process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous underwriting experience in Household, Property, Personal Lines or Travel Insurance.
• Strong technical underwriting and risk‑assessment capabilities.
• Good understanding of policy cover, underwriting principles and risk selection.
• Ability to build effective relationships with brokers and colleagues.
• Motivated, proactive and eager to develop within a specialist insurer.
