Personal Tax Senior

About the role

Butler Rose, a top‑40 accountancy practice, is seeking a Personal Tax Senior to join its Private Tax team in Colchester. You will manage a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, deliver compliance work, and identify planning opportunities while supporting junior colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients and meet all HMRC and internal deadlines.
• Prepare personal tax computations and tax returns for review.
• Review work completed by non‑tax specialists and provide technical guidance.
• Assist with ad‑hoc advisory projects, technical research and complex HMRC correspondence.
• Identify tax planning opportunities, including Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax advice.
• Coach and develop junior team members and collaborate with managers, directors and partners.

Required profile

• ATT qualified with 5‑6 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong personal tax compliance background within an accountancy practice.
• Excellent commercial awareness, analytical ability and communication skills.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to meet demanding deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to client premises and between offices.
