Pharmaceutical Buyer

About the role

The Pharmaceutical Buyer will support the IS team by sourcing products both within the UK and internationally, helping to expand the client base and portfolio. This full‑time, permanent position involves negotiating prices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Research and identify new products and suppliers, providing quotations for the IS and PS teams.
• Source alternatives for hard‑to‑find items and maximise inter‑group purchases.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and pricing to drive continuous improvement.
• Manage inventory levels, track expiry dates, and prevent stock disruptions.
• Act as the primary contact for suppliers, expanding import and export lines.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, quality, regulatory and finance teams to align purchasing with business objectives.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with European and international trade, customs and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, generate reports, and support quality management system documentation.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist or similar role.
• Strong understanding of trade regulations, import/export procedures and customs laws.
• Resilient, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to make rapid, sound decisions.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with procurement/ERP systems such as Exact, SAP or Oracle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
