Pharmacist - Clinical Pharmacy Services

About the role

The Pharmacist reports to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services and ensures safe, effective drug therapy for patients. This full‑time, permanent position involves overseeing drug distribution, supervising pharmacy support staff, and delivering a range of clinical pharmacy services within a hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff and resolve drug‑related problems.
• Conduct drug regimen reviews, medication reconciliation, and pharmacokinetic monitoring.
• Provide individual and group patient medication teaching, drug information, and educational programs.
• Participate in medical rounds, prepare discharge medication calendars, and counsel patients.
• Make therapeutic recommendations to the medical team.
• Assist with orientation and training of pharmacy students and other hospital personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP‑accredited university.
• Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum two years of clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
