Physical Performance Coach – Academy Rehab

About the role

Based at the City Football Academy in Manchester, the Physical Performance Coach will lead evidence‑based rehabilitation and return‑to‑performance programmes for Academy players. You will create a supportive environment that enables injured athletes to recover safely, rebuild physical qualities and regain confidence in training.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver individualised rehabilitation and return‑to‑performance plans for youth footballers.
• Monitor, test and analyse player data to inform loading, progression and programme adjustments.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure consistent rehabilitation processes aligned with Academy standards.
• Collaborate closely with medical, physiotherapy, coaching and performance teams to provide a seamless interdisciplinary service.
• Model professional behaviours and contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering physical performance, rehabilitation or strength‑and‑conditioning support within youth sport or academy settings.
• Strong understanding of adolescent athlete development, growth, maturation and injury‑risk factors.
• Ability to plan and execute personalised rehabilitation pathways for young players.
• Experience using monitoring, testing or player‑management data to guide decisions.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
