Nursing Auxiliary – Orthopaedic Ward (AA)

About the role

The National Treatment Centre Ward is seeking a motivated Nursing Auxiliary (AA) to join a multidisciplinary team delivering pre‑ and post‑operative care for elective orthopaedic surgery patients. This role supports the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathway in a 33‑bed inpatient unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance and monitoring vital signs.
• Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering evidence‑based orthopaedic care.
• Assist with documentation and patient observations in line with NHS standards.
• Work across day and night shifts, rotating as required.
• Contribute to the implementation of the ERAS programme to optimise patient rehabilitation.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptability to change and a strong drive to deliver high‑quality care.
• Interest in orthopaedic nursing; prior orthopaedic experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to obtain PVG Scheme membership and demonstrate right to work in the UK.
