Planner - Highways

About the role

You will join a well‑established contractor delivering high‑profile highway projects across the South East. This full‑time permanent position is based in Brentwood and offers hybrid working with a strong focus on career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, develop and maintain construction programmes from first principles using works information and drawings.
• Manage and update short‑term and long‑term programmes to reflect progress, change and risk.
• Lead daily scheduling and planning activities to support efficient project delivery.
• Work closely with site teams to understand construction methodologies and sequencing.
• Support the commercial team by substantiating change and maintaining robust records.
• Contribute to NEC contract processes, including early warnings and Clause 62 assessments.
• Identify potential delays and risks, proposing mitigation measures.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on programme, progress and key milestones.
• Utilise Primavera P6 to manage and report programme performance.

Required profile

• Experience as a Planner, Site/Section Engineer or Site Agent within the highways industry, preferably from a subcontractor/Tier 2 background.
• In‑depth knowledge of civil works such as drainage, kerbing, motorway technology, street lighting and traffic signals.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
